License Overview

What the District License Offers

A district-wide license that lets multiple schools, principals, teachers, and students experience Rockin’ – The Secrets of Plymouth Rock together—without worrying about individual licenses at each building.

In a nutshell: The District License covers all participating schools within one district for the licensed term. Multiple buildings, multiple grade levels, and multiple performances are fully covered under a single agreement.

1. Multi-School, Multi-Building Rights

The District License is designed for coordinated programs and curriculum rollouts. It allows:

  • Use of the musical in multiple school buildings across the district
  • Multiple principals, music directors, and classroom teachers to participate
  • Flexible implementation (pilot in a few schools, then expand district-wide)

District example

A district rolls out the musical at four elementary schools. Each school stages its own production with its own cast and schedule, and all of those uses are covered under the same District License.

2. District-Wide Performance Rights

This license grants broad performance rights throughout your district:

  • Assemblies and performances at each participating school
  • Evening or weekend performances for families and community members
  • Repeat performances over the licensed term as needed
  • Joint performances (for example, combined casts from multiple schools)

District example

After each school presents its own show, a combined “All-District” version is staged at a central auditorium featuring student representatives from each building.

3. Full Educational Materials for All Participating Schools

Every school covered by the District License gains access to the same rich educational materials, including:

  • Full script for Rockin’ – The Secrets of Plymouth Rock
  • All 12 songs (vocal tracks and instrumental/backing tracks)
  • Teacher Guide (staging tips, pacing suggestions, and classroom integration)
  • Student Activity Booklets
  • History Units with short readings, discussion questions, and worksheets
  • Printable lyrics and practice materials

District example

The curriculum director shares the digital materials with each school’s principal and teacher-leaders. Each building can integrate the show into existing social studies and arts units, while still aligning with district-wide goals.

4. Printing & Digital Sharing Rights Across the District

The District License allows printing and internal digital sharing across participating schools in your district:

  • Print scripts, lyrics, and worksheets for all participating classes
  • Share materials securely through district-approved platforms (LMS, shared drives, etc.)
  • Create building-specific or grade-level sets of materials as needed

District example

The district’s instructional technology team hosts the materials on a password-protected staff portal, so teachers at each school can download what they need without re-requesting files or purchasing additional licenses.

5. Audio Rights for Rehearsal, Performance & District Initiatives

The District License includes broad use of the audio tracks for district-wide teaching and performance:

  • Rehearsals in classrooms, music rooms, and auditoriums
  • Full performances at each school using backing tracks
  • Listening centers or “history through music” stations
  • District events celebrating local history and student performance

District example

A district hosts a “Plymouth Rock History & Music Night,” where students from several schools share songs and scenes. All use of the tracks is included in the District License.

6. Recording & Fundraising Options (Within the District)

The District License offers flexibility around recordings and school-based fundraising:

  • Recordings for internal review, teacher training, or student reflection
  • Creating keepsake recordings for families, when handled at the school/district level
  • Ticketed performances at individual schools or district venues
Important note on public posting:
You may create recordings for internal and family use, and for district-run sharing (for example, password-protected district platforms). However, posting the full show publicly (e.g., YouTube, Facebook, or public livestreams) may require additional permissions. If you anticipate wide public distribution, please contact us to confirm.

7. What the District License Does Not Include

To keep things clear, here is what is outside the scope of the District License:

  • Use by schools outside the licensed district
  • Permanent public hosting of full-show recordings on open platforms
  • Transfer of the license to another district or organization

If you need to coordinate across multiple districts or consortia, we’re happy to discuss a custom arrangement.

8. Ideal For District Leaders & Curriculum Teams

The District License is a strong fit if you are:

  • A curriculum director or fine arts coordinator
  • Rolling out a shared social studies or arts unit
  • Aligning music and classroom instruction across schools
  • Planning a “common experience” for your elementary grades
  • Looking for a turnkey, standards-friendly history & arts project

With one license, you can coordinate meaningful, arts-integrated learning across multiple schools—anchored in Plymouth’s story, the Wampanoag/Patuxet people, and student voices.
